Renata Neder is a Brazilian geographer and human rights advocate with 17 years of experience working on human rights and socio environmental issues with national and international civil society organizations. Prior to joining CLUA, Renata worked as Brazil representative of the Committee to Protect Journalists. Previously, she worked for Amnesty International, Center of Security and Citizenship Studies (CESeC), Institute of Religion Studies (ISER), and ActionAid.
Renata has conducted research, campaigns and advocacy work on economic and social rights, the right to food, conflict over land and natural resources, territorial rights, the right to housing, protection of human rights and environmental defenders, drug policy, criminal justice system, public security, and press freedom.
She is interested in working with indigenous people, afro descendants and local communities on initiatives to secure their territorial rights, reduce violence and conflict over land and natural resources.
She is fluent in Portuguese (native speaker), English and Spanish.
