Nur Hidayati – or, Yaya, as friends and colleagues call her – has more than 25 years of experience working on environment and development issues in Indonesia, mostly working with non-government organizations and with local and Indigenous communities. She had been in several leadership roles with civil society organizations in Indonesia, such as National Coordinator of Indonesia Civil Society Forum for Climate Justice, Indonesia Country Director of Greenpeace South East Asia, and the Executive Director of the Indonesian Forum for Environment (WALHI). She also served as the Chair of the Board of Sawit (palm oil) Watch, and board member of Indonesian Peoples Coalition for Fishery Justice (KIARA). She holds a bachelor degree in Environmental Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Indonesia.
