Ivana Fertziger works from the foundation’s Mexico City office. Her grant making has focused on reducing poverty in rural areas and generating viable alternatives to migration by helping poor and marginalized households obtain financial, business development, and organizational development services that have the potential to improve the productivity of income-generating activities and access to markets for goods and services.
Before joining the foundation in 2013, Ivana was director for sustainable development at Development Alternatives Inc. (DAI) for Latin America and the Caribbean, where she was responsible for developing and overseeing projects focused on promoting sustainable goods and services via value chain analyses, rural development, microenterprise development, and financial inclusion. She has a deep understanding of economic development, value chain analyses and end-market linkages, financial inclusion, and micro- and small-business development and has worked in a variety of contexts throughout Latin America.
Ivana holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Latin American studies from Carleton College. She earned a postgraduate degree in environmental policy design and implementation from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
